Coventry (PRWEB UK) 17 October 2011
Staff from the Chelmsley Wood branch of Coventry Building Society have raised £2852.72 for a Macmillan Cancer respite hotel in Bournemouth, Albany Lodge. Local member of the Coventry, Les Goldingay who sadly passed away earlier this year due to cancer, stayed at Albany Lodge last year with his wife Kim.
Kim Goldingay said “Albany Lodge provides respite care for individuals and families affected by terminal illness. The support of Macmillan has been fantastic and really helped us through a very distressing time. Albany Lodge is a fantastic place and I know my husband would have been delighted with the amount the staff from the Coventry have managed to raise”.
Beverley Grove, the Customer Service Coordinator at the Chelmsley Wood branch of the Coventry said “Les and his wife Kim have been members of Coventry for many years and when Les became ill we were very keen to do everything we could to support them. We have held various fundraising events including Valentines Day and Mothers Day raffles, a disco and one member of staff even took part in a sponsored slim.”
Lesley Telford, Deputy Manager of Albany Lodge said “We have just moved from Albany lodge into our new larger premises, The Grove where we have more facilities and are able to support even more cancer patients and their families, as well as people who have suffered a life changing illness. The money raised by staff at Coventry Building Society will make a real difference and help ensure that our new premises offer families a much needed holiday, whilst knowing their loved ones are receiving all the medical support needed during a difficult time.”
