Four-year-old Izzy Platt visited the FreshStart Living offices in Salford on Thursday to be presented with a £5,000 cheque from The Charles Camilleri Foundation.

Izzy, from Preston, suffers from cerebral palsy in her legs which means she can’t put her feet flat on the ground or walk unaided. She needs to raise £50,000 for an operation and this month, Salford-based property developer FreshStart Living’s charity, The Charles Camilleri Foundation, donated £5,000 to Izzy’s Twinkle Toes Appeal.

On Thursday 13th October, staff from FreshStart Living who helped raise the money met with, Izzy, her twin sister Gabby and their mother Stacey, to be presented with a huge cheque.

Izzy needs to raise £50,000 to pay for surgery known as Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy which can only be performed by specialist neurosurgeon Dr T.S. Park and his team at St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri, USA.

A share of FreshStart Living’s profit each month goes to their charity, The Charles Camilleri Foundation which supports local charities as well as provides grants to Salford entrepreneurs.

Last month the Foundation chose Izzy’s Twinkletoes Appeal as their charity of the month and the £5,000 leaves Izzy with a total of £31.650 towards her operation.

Spokesman for The Charles Camilleri Foundation, Matthew Dyas said: "Every month The Charles Camilleri Foundation chooses a charity to donate to and when we came across the Izzy Twinkletoes Appeal, it was a no-brainer. It's such a fantastic cause and we are glad that the money we donated can make a difference.

"It was great to meet with the twins and their mum Stacey and the smile on Izzy's face when she saw the cheque was priceless. It was twice the size of her"

The Foundation was established by FreshStart Living in memory of prominent local entrepreneur, Charles Camilleri, who had numerous businesses on Trafford Road, Salford, during the 1960s, including cafes, taxi firms, boarding houses and pet shops.
