A recent Harvard study showed that insomnia costs employers over $63 Billion per year -- and yet, most companies do not yet have a formal plan in place to address the sleep of their employees. SWAN Medical Group -- the acronym standing for Sleep Well At Night -- addresses this important issue directly. Working with the employer to determine the specific course of action that works best for them, SWAN develops and implements comprehensive sleep health plans for corporations and other large organizations. SWAN has teamed up with some of the most prominent providers of testing and treatment services in the world of sleep medicine, and essentially takes employees' hands, and walks them through the entire process. Employees are then given their own Sleep Coach to serve as a resource, provide guidance, and follow-up to ensure success.
"It is important to note that the $63 Billion figure refers to insomnia only," says Sina Nader, president of SWAN Medical. "There are more than 90 recognized sleep disorders. Clearly, sleep is an integral part of employees' lives, and therefore is directly related to the bottom lines of companies. We started SWAN to focus precisely on this issue. We believe that well-rested employees are productive employees."
Typically, SWAN will engage with the HR directors and other executives of medium- and large-sized companies, assess their needs, and then proceed to develop a formal plan. "Any time I speak with Human Resources or other executives, I ask them -- does your company have a formal sleep health plan in place? Generally, it is not an area they have addressed yet," Mr. Nader explains.
