RSD GLASS is the first proven information governance solution to address the entire record lifecycle across multiple jurisdictions and repositories

We had the foresight to deliver a proven solution to market as opposed to taking an existing product and branding it as information governance.

RSD, a leading provider of information governance solutions for the enterprise, and “The Official Sponsor of Information Governance,” announced today the release of RSD GLASS v2.2, providing the first enterprise-grade information governance solution.

“Information governance is a concept that has recently emerged partly as the evolution from traditional records management, and partly as a new discipline mandated by executive management for improving the value and use of information,” said Tamir Sigal, Director of Marketing at RSD. “Having an information governance platform is essential to every organization; however it is not easily understood. Some companies are still struggling to determine the definition of information governance and the impact it has on their business operations.”

Information governance enforces desirable behavior for the creation, use, archiving, and deletion of corporate information. More than simple retention and disposition, information governance includes the management of metadata, adjusting security classifications, changing data privacy attributes, and managing digital rights outside the firewall across multiple jurisdictions.

“With RSD GLASS, organizations align the discipline of managing corporate information with their compliance obligations, as defined by laws, regulations, business requirements, and industry best practices. I recall talking about information governance at ARMA 2008 in Las Vegas for the ARMA podcast series,” said Bassam Zarkout, RSD CTO. “We have clearly seen where our customers are struggling to achieve enterprise information governance objectives and had the foresight to deliver a proven solution to market as opposed to taking an existing product and branding it as information governance.”

RSD’s information governance solution, RSD GLASS, provides solutions to unanticipated problems, with benefits that include reduced costs at all stages of the content lifecycle, swifter secure access to information wherever it is stored, and centralized, streamlined governance policy creation and management. During the ARMA conference, RSD is announcing the availability of RSD GLASS 2.2 with the following features:

  • In-place governance for Microsoft® SharePoint® 2010 – RSD GLASS ensures SharePoint content is governed in accordance with laws/regulations without impeding growth and benefits of SharePoint environments – delivering a transparent and non-intrusive solution.
  • Updated and new application Connectors – In addition to providing information governance for SharePoint, RSD GLASS supports in-place governance for all major content repositories using an open software development kit (SDK), including EMC® Documentum®, IBM® FileNet®, IBM® Content Manager, and Autonomy®.
  • Enhanced e-discovery capabilities – RSD GLASS enables organizations to proactively manage the information lifecycle while providing secure access to support e-discovery. RSD GLASS 2.2 includes improved search capabilities with enhanced cross-file plan searching.
  • Total governance across all records – RSD GLASS 2.2 includes an interface to enable information governance on physical records such as records stored in Iron Mountain. This allows companies to provide a centralized policy engine with enforcement across all digital and paper records – regardless where they are physically stored.

“To us, information governance helps companies improve the value of corporate information while lowering storage costs,” says Ben Richmond, founder and CEO of The Content Group. ”Using RSD GLASS, customers are now able to systematically enforce the governance rules across all their corporate records; regardless of where they are stored in today’s complex IT infrastructure.”

Throughout the coming months, RSD as “The Official Sponsor of Information Governance,” will implement campaigns to promote the awareness and understanding of information governance. Via webinars and whitepapers, RSD will educate businesses about the importance of having an information governance platform and where to begin.

RSD is a platinum sponsor of ARMA International’s 56th Conference & Expo in Washington, DC.
