The chief executive of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Roger Draper, visited David Lloyd Leisure’s Raynes Park club to celebrate its talent and tournament successes.
Mr Draper was guest of honour at a ceremony at the club in Bushey Road on October 13, when he presented prizes to the teams who took part in this summer’s AEGON Team Tennis championships.
Praising all those who took part, Mr Draper said: “The LTA is committed to providing more opportunities to play tennis competitively, and it's great to see the teams at David Lloyd Leisure Raynes Park enjoying their tennis and excelling at it. Congratulations to all the winners, and to the coaches and supporters at the club for a very successful year.”
David Lloyd Raynes Park general manager Charles Jude commented: “We were delighted that Mr Draper visited the club to congratulate our teams. His visit provided a fantastic recognition of the outstanding successes in the AEGON Team Tennis championships and the real talent that we have here at our club.”
David Lloyd Raynes Park won the 14s and under boys’ finals, and was also runner-up in the 12s and under boys’ category.
This success followed the victory of the men’s team in the finals of the AEGON Team Tennis tournament. The club’s ladies were runners-up.
