Marc Porter has joined AECOM, a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients around the world, as vice president and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) leader for the firm’s transportation business in its U.S. West Region.
In this role, Porter will coordinate, lead and prioritize strategies for projects relative to the deployment of technology within the surface transportation arena for the western United States. Porter will also assist other U.S. regions with ITS-related projects and pursuits. “We are looking forward to Marc growing the ITS practice in our West Region to match the success that AECOM has enjoyed within the East and Central parts of the U.S. and abroad,” says Bob Edelstein, vice president and leader of AECOM’s ITS practice in North America.
With more than 20 years of experience, Porter’s expertise encompasses all aspects of ITS, traffic engineering and traffic operations. He has served as principal-in-charge, program director and project manager on dozens of ITS projects that incorporate Advanced Traffic Management System, Advanced Traveler Information System and Advanced Public Transit System elements.
Porter possesses significant experience in the design, deployment and integration of traveler information/511 systems for both urban and statewide environments. Recently, in California, he assisted the Riverside County Transportation Commission with the design, deployment and integration of the Inland Empire 511 system, and has aided numerous agencies with deployment of ITS to enhance the mobility of people and goods.
