Starlight Theatre has expanded the role of its direct and digital marketing firm, InQuest Marketing, to now also drive the branding and creative direction for all mass media efforts. In addition, Starlight has selected Meers Advertising to handle all of its media planning and buying duties, both traditional and digital.
After several local advertising firms participated in an agency review, Starlight’s management and board of directors awarded the account to InQuest and Meers, both staffed by marketing and media professionals with whom Starlight has worked for four years.
Starlight originally hired InQuest Marketing in 2008 to build a new website and e-mail distribution tool, plus handle all of its direct marketing efforts. As Starlight’s new branding and creative agency, InQuest will also develop messaging for TV, radio, print, outdoor and online advertising.
“For four years, we’ve enjoyed our partnership with Starlight Theatre and appreciate the opportunity to continue working with a Kansas City icon,” said Brian Olson, partner, InQuest Marketing. “We are thrilled to be able to expand our role to include branding and creative leadership for all of Starlight’s marketing efforts.”
Meers Advertising will handle all media planning and buying for Starlight. Sheree Johnson, formerly with Nicholson Kovac, led Starlight’s media team there and, along with some of her former NK team members, will plan and execute Starlight’s media at Meers.
“Meers Advertising is thrilled to have Starlight Theatre as a media client,” said Sam Meers, president/CEO, Meers Advertising. “Since its formation in August, our new channel marketing discipline has hit the ground running, serving both existing and new clients. Our team is very passionate about the Starlight brand, and we look forward to partnering with InQuest Marketing to serve this beloved Kansas City performing arts institution.”
“During our agency review process, InQuest and Meers demonstrated an impressive branding and creative strategy that was highly integrated through all of our potential marketing channels,” said Cindy Jeffries, vice president of marketing, sales & development, Starlight Theatre. “In addition, both agencies have many years of marketing and media experience in the performing arts industry, so they understand the challenges of our business. We anticipate a valuable marketing partnership with InQuest and Meers.”
