In an effort to help reduce cavities and support our troops this Halloween, local dentist, Mark Mathias, will be trading a $1 bill per pound of candy and a chance to win a $100 fun card to Family Fun Town.

Moderation will allow you to keep your teeth and have your candy, too," says Dr. Mathias.

Local dentist, Mark Mathias, is doing his part to reduce cavities this Halloween season by holding his 5th Annual Halloween Candy Buyback.

“Tooth decay (cavities) remains the most prevalent chronic disease in both children and adults, so we are here to help show kids that moderation is key. Have fun collecting the candy, choose a few pieces of your favorite candy, then sell us the rest,” says Dr. Mathias. “Moderation will allow you to keep your teeth and have your candy, too.”

With this in mind, Dr. Mathias and his team will be making an effort to reduce cavities this year. On Tuesday, November 1, they will be at their office, DeLand Smiles, located at 158 McGregor Rd., DeLand, from 4 – 7pm buying candy for $1 per pound (up to 5 pounds) from the first 100 kids ages 2-14. To continue the fun, all participants will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 Gift card to Family Fun Town and all candy collected will be sent to our troops overseas.

Dr. Mathias is comfortable and experienced in giving interviews and is very willing to make himself available to provide you with more information on this community service project. Contact Dr. Mathias at his office at 386-736-7121. Bio and Q&A pages available.
