History is more than just events. It's about people. C. M. (Chuck) McGee's A Cockpit in New Guinea follows the story of a young man from Staten Island, New York, who longs to be a pilot in the Army Air Corps. But the path to his dream is littered with obstacles: at home, in school, and within himself. While he wages his own internal war, another erupts in the skies over New Guinea during the first months of World War II. One man, two wars. Can he win them both?
Based largely on experiences of the author's father, a World War II fighter ace, A Cockpit in New Guinea is a moving, adventurous narrative about life, ambition, personal conflict, and love -- a story that will hook history and human interest enthusiasts alike!
