This memoir will be featured at this year’s New York Library Association Book Exhibit in Saratoga Springs on November 2-5

Author Jean M. Life tells her and her husband’s story of living in China in the pages of this newly published book. How their Life In China turned out to be an exhilarating and interesting ride is unraveled in this part memoir, part travel book that’s educational, informative, fun, and factual. Readers also get to see the differences between Western and Chinese cultures through the author’s experiences.

The author was the first American woman to live in Nanyang, making her an object of interest almost immediately. She lived there long enough to immerse deeply into Chinese culture. Her travels to many areas in this vast country and her many Chinese friends enabled her to understand the country, the landscapes, and the customs better. Her daily life, lessons in adaptability, cultural differences, and varied experiences will help others see the authentic China through her eyes.

“From the moment I learned we were moving to China to our return home, you will read about our amazing and bizarre experiences. During the years in China, I had sent newsletters to family and friends about our adventures, but upon our return home, many people still wanted me to write a book. Finally, I agreed to begin writing. I played on our name for the title and then began telling “my story”. Not only did I want to write about our experiences, I also wanted it to be a help to those going to live or do business in a very different culture upside-down from what we consider normal. Consequently, I have written Life In China as a cross between a memoir and a travel book. I hope it is a helpful source for those going there to live or tour and an enjoyable story for those who aren’t,” shares the author.

The book also includes some of the history of China, helpful information for those going to live in or tour China, the religions recognized in the country, the foods of and etiquettes in China, and more.

This book will be featured at the New York Library Association Book Exhibit in Saratoga Springs, NY on November 2-5, 2011. For more information on this book, interested parties may log on to
