Strategic Information Group (Strategic), a full service provider of enterprise technology, quality and regulatory management solutions, announced today that leading herbal tea manufacturer Traditional Medicinals® has gone live on QAD Enterprise Applications.
Traditional Medicinals is a global leader in organic, medicinal teas and other herbal products formulated using pharmacopoeial grade herbs. Founded in 1974 and based in Sebastopol, California, the company maintains a strong commitment to sustainability, rigorous quality control testing, scientific study, and clinical research.
To meet growing domestic and international demand and support its expanding mission of quality and sustainability, Traditional Medicinals needed the right enterprise technology. A long-time user of QAD Enterprise Applications, the company called on Strategic as its enterprise technology partner to upgrade its system from QAD eB2.1 to QAD Enterprise Applications 2010 Standard Edition (QAD 2010 SE), which includes the latest QAD .NET user interface (UI). Strategic also provided validation tools and services. From inception to go-live the project took just four months.
With the upgrade, the company expects to leverage new capabilities in the QAD Enterprise Applications suite, along with new features of QAD .NET UI, to improve operational efficiencies, enhance supply chain collaboration and streamline production. Traditional Medicinals also relies on QAD’s track-and-trace capabilities for its supplier audits and sustainability reporting.
“We’ve worked with Strategic for almost every aspect of our QAD installation. They have assisted in implementations of QAD and the .NET interface, helping us to navigate a complex process involving every department,” said Jeffrey Flasher, vice president of information technology for Traditional Medicinals. “Strategic provided onsite trainings, individual module configurations, and custom programming. They also provided group and individualized training on browses and custom browses for our Finance and IT departments, working closely with key staff to develop repetitive lookups with changing criteria, as well as custom scripts to automate procedures. Strategic’s support with training and troubleshooting, especially altering existing procedures for the .NET environment, was crucial to our success.”
Strategic’s technical team played a key role in the customizations, browse development and training for QAD .NET UI, enabling new features in the customizable browses for fast, easy user access to accurate information. The updated reporting framework also allows the company to streamline reports and processes, and simplify its IT management.
Traditional Medicinals also called on Strategic to install its new QAD ERP system on Linux servers. The company expects to improve its IT infrastructure, lower costs and increase efficiency with the improved uptime, reliability, security, and flexibility the Linux platform can provide.
“All the members of the Strategic team have extensive experience with the disciplines involved and know how to make the best use of the applications in our environment,” said Flasher. “With the latest releases of QAD it has become even more important to us that we make use of the new capabilities, and Strategic has proved well versed in the latest QAD tools. Traditional Medicinals has used QAD for over 10 years, and Strategic continues to be a valued partner in our growth.”
