We founded Indicee after years of watching the BI industry move from the accessible desktop reporting we created with Crystal Reports to today’s expensive, complex & monolithic enterprise BI solutions.

Cloud BI provider Indicee announces today that the next generation Indicee Cloud BI Platform went live, re-defining business intelligence in the cloud. The Indicee Cloud BI Platform is set to change the economics of deploying BI solutions by moving away from complex BI tools and providing an integrated platform through which customers and partners can quickly combine and analyze data from different sources. The new platform becomes the most accessible Cloud BI service with virtually all of the data import, modelling, reporting and user management functionality available through its API.
The Indicee Cloud BI Platform has significant appeal to other cloud vendors such as software-as-as-service (SaaS) companies that have had to rely on Enterprise or OpenSource BI solutions for embedded reporting despite the long term customization, expertise and hosting costs they both require.
Indicee’s initial product releases throughout 2010 focused on making it easy for users to create and share reports by importing data and using a question based interface instead of complex query builders. It empowered businesses to turn their data into BI models against which users could create and share reports. The initial Indicee release was met with swift user uptake, rave reviews and media and analyst attention.
Early on, Indicee identified that most emerging Cloud-based BI vendors still relied on traditional pillars for their solution including data warehouses, ETL tools and complex query languages that required armies of resources to implement and manage. This approach has done little to improve the BI industry’s reputation for massive, costly projects that take years to provide value and its low adoption business user adoption rates that rarely exceed 20% of an organization’s employees.
In late 2010, the Indicee team began work on their second phase of product development. Leveraging their experiences at Crystal and Business Objects, the team began building their vision of the next generation BI platform delivered from the cloud.
The newly released Indicee Cloud BI Platform offers features including:
- Powerful Modeling User Interfaces: The most powerful BI modeling tools in the cloud. Bring data sources together and describe the data all inside Indicee’s powerful browser-based modeling interface.
- Dashboard & Report Authoring: Building on Indicee’s award winning report editor, the new authoring tools are more user friendly and include a new set of visualizations for charting and graphing.
- Smart, Agile BI Engine: Adjust the model by adding new data or creating a drill down hierarchy and watch reports and dashboards automatically adjust.
- Platform Services and API: All Indicee modeling and report authoring tools are built on top of the Indicee API. A platform services portal provides enterprise user management capabilities and an extension editor allows partners to add new BI building blocks like new formulae and data types to Indicee. This becomes the most powerful way to embed reports and dashboards into other cloud applications or even build complete custom BI solutions in the cloud.
“We founded Indicee after years of watching the BI industry move from the accessible desktop reporting we created with Crystal Reports to today’s expensive, complex & monolithic enterprise BI solutions that rarely reach the business users who pay for them,” explains Indicee Founder and CEO Mark Cunningham.
“The Indicee Cloud BI Platform represents the next phase in our development and a product that furthers the ability for businesses and partners to have unprecedented, flexible, critical access to their data through the cloud.”
The Indicee Cloud BI Platform tools are the most powerful offered in the cloud to date. The depth of the tools and the Indicee API are unmatched amongst other cloud BI offerings and the newly released version of Indicee is already attracting significant partner and user attention.
