London (PRWEB UK) 22 October 2011
According to Sky News and the Office for National Statistics, the three months leading to August saw weak growth in the recruitment sector resulting in the UK seeing the highest jobless rate since 1996. The statistics also show that youth unemployment rose by 74,000 for the 19-24 year olds and that the unemployment total stands at 2.57 million, up by 114,000.
Provider of online recruitment lead generation software, RecruitLeads have been following developments closely, and together with their specialist recruitment software have some insight of their own:
“Our specialist software scrapes all of the major UK jobsites and aggregates the data into easily viewed tables and graphs. This has allowed us to see for ourselves the numbers of jobs that are out there for a number of sectors. The job market is currently is a difficult place, but numbers are still up as compared to after the start of the recession in 2008 and we remain optimistic about the near future. It is safe to say that demand is still higher than supply which is why recruiters can still afford to be picky about their new staff.”
Although still a blow to the government, the figures are not a huge surprise as job numbers have been fluctuating in the past few years towards the higher end of the unemployment spectrum.
“The latest figures from the ONS are most definitely not good news, but it should be noted that these numbers come from the months leading up to August and are not a reflection of numbers as they may be right now. For instance, looking at our data, we can see slight rises in numbers throughout August and into September. The beginning of August saw a grand total of 20,456 jobs being advertised, whilst only a week later there were 25,034. This number has stayed stable throughout the rest of August and into the beginning of September.”
