In “God the Therapist: A True Story of a Man’s Search for His Soul” (published by iUniverse), author Husain Sam-Tio Chung tells the courageous story of his spiritual quest towards connection with the direct power of God, the power that guided the messengers and prophets.

“During my undergraduate years in Missouri, limping around and being the only Chinese student, I felt as though I were an injured soldier unable to find his battalion—I had missed out in the adventures and great battles waged against evil forces by giants and prophets who had once walked upon the earth. Why did I come upon the scene after they had all gone, the sword of truth tarnished and broken? Was I born out of a time warp? I was certain they, the giants and prophets, were still alive somewhere, perhaps on some "other side", parallel to this dimension.

"I would take late-night walks on and off the campus, sometimes unabashedly crying. I didn’t belong anywhere. “ - Husain Sam-Tio Chung

“God the Therapist” conveys how Chung’s authentic connection with the Divine became his spiritual therapeutic process of human change and evolution and how it guided the development of his life’s work as a spiritual psychologist.

Chung's life work as director of the Psychodrama Theatre of the Human Institute in the San Francisco Bay area during the late 1960s aimed to unravel the emotional blocks and psychological chains that prevented people from becoming the truly great human beings they were destined to become.

“God the Therapist” is set in a historically interesting era of the 1960’s, an explosive era of societal change. The book includes first hand accounts of the author's interaction with such luminaries as Henry Miller, Alan Watts, and John Bennett.
