Richer Sounds, who sell a whole host of electrical goods ranging from sound systems to TVs and Blu-Ray Players found a 150per cent increase in visits between Christmas Eve to Boxing Day to their website last year and are expecting a similar spike this year. Visits to the site were elevated over last year’s Christmas period; but there was a notable increase of visitors on Boxing Day.
The yearly Boxing Day spike in visitors to the website is consistent with in-store sales figures. Richer Sounds believe that the increase of website visitors could be explained by shoppers looking for post-Christmas deals on electronics online. Where before, people visited stores for Boxing Day sales and discounts, Richer Sounds’ website data shows that this is also taking place with regards to online shopping.
“We’ve always assumed that consumers like to take advantage of Boxing Day sales to get big discounts, but now we have statistics that show exactly how many people are waiting till Boxing Day to browse.”-Richer Sounds web analysts commented.
There could be other reasons for the spike which include people having the time to browse electronics on the bank holiday; the data shows that visitors browsed an average of six pages during their visit, or it could be that consumers were spending Christmas vouchers and gift money online.
Richer Sounds expect a spike in site visitors this Boxing Day, although they forecast lower figures than last year’s, where the numbers were particularly high due to the effect of the recession which forced consumers to find the best deals.
Richer Sounds has been the UK’s Hi-Fi, TV and Home Cinema specialist for over 30 years and was voted Which’s “Best High Street Retailer” in 2011. They retail TV and AV brands to include Samsung, LG and Sony.
