Throughout history, music has been at the core of massive cultural and political change, and it has been at its most powerful in defense or celebration of humanity’s highest ideals.

The “Rock the Revolution Tour" featuring KRS ONE, Per Capita, Rise, Consise & Krookid, Ronny North, Frequently Faded and Killjoy comes to Santa Monica tonight. The free, 21 and over show will be held at Central Social Aid and Pleasure Club, 1348 14th St. Doors open at 8:00 p.m.; show starts at 9:00 p.m.

The Santa Monica stop continues Rock the Revolution’s West Coast swing, which moves to Irvine on October 25 before concluding in Pomona on October 27. The cross-country, 25-city tour is slated to wrap in Boston in mid-December.

The Rock the Revolution Tour was conceived by Zak Carter, a U.S. Army veteran of Kosovo and Iraq, to promote the liberty message of presidential candidate Ron Paul. Carter has assembled more than 20 acts to accompany him along the way or at select stops.

“Throughout history, music has been at the core of massive cultural and political change,” explains Carter, “and it has been at its most powerful in defense or celebration of humanity’s highest ideals.”

Carter continues, “Our tour continues that tradition, celebrating the principles of non-aggression, the Constitution, individual liberty and responsibility, and sound money, issues that Congressman Ron Paul has consistently championed during his 30 years in public life.”

One of the key reasons so many are attracted to Paul, Carter explains, is the fact that, as a student of historical trends, he accurately predicted the economic collapse, reduction of civil liberties at home, expansion of militarism abroad and the massive increase in federal spending, which increases dependency and threatens economic sustainability.

“Through this effort, we hope to build awareness for this phenomenal candidate and honest American ideals,” Carter explains, “while having a blast along the way.”

A recent Harris Poll showed Ron Paul prevailing over Barack Obama 51 percent to 49 percent in a general election race.
