The message of the Foundation and the P.S.A in Times Square is critical – there is hope and help for those who suffer from depression...The more people we reach, the more we make a difference and save lives.
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 23, 2011
The Dave Nee Foundation was one of the lucky not-for-profits selected to air a Public Service Announcement (PSA) from October 15th, 2011 through November 30th, 2011 on the CBS “Super Screen” positioned at 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenue. Through this PSA opportunity, the Dave Nee Foundation will focus attention on the serious issue of untreated depression for the many visitors to the New York City area during the holiday season and the tens of thousands of commuters who use the New York City subway systems and the Port Authority terminal every day.
The Dave Nee Foundation's PSA focuses on raising awareness of the prevalence of depression (1 in 10 Americans suffers from depression). It also instills hope in those currently suffering from depression by informing viewers of the effectiveness of treatment.
Dave Nee Foundation volunteer and cousin of the Foundation’s namesake Dave Nee, Eva Wong, produced the PSA. Ms. Wong is a Senior Producer at CollegeHumor.com and a long-time supporter of the Foundation. Ms. Wong shared, “The message of the Foundation and the PSA in Times Square is critical – there is hope and help for those who suffer from depression. I am always happy to help the Foundation get this message across through its media work. The more people we reach, the more we make a difference and save lives.”
The Dave Nee Foundation was created in the wake of the 2005 suicide of Dave Nee, a brilliant law student at Fordham University who struggled silently with depression for many years. The Dave Nee Foundation’s innovative and unique program, Uncommon Counsel, fights depression and works to prevent suicide among law students. Uncommon Counsel educates law students (currently within CUNY School of Law, Duke University School of Law, Fordham University, New York Law School, and Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center) about depression, its prevalence in the legal profession, and the availability and effectiveness of treatment. The Dave Nee Foundation also administers a grant-giving program that provides an annual award to a deserving organization whose mission is to support those with depression and/or prevent suicide.
