Blackstone Automation announces a new and improved Shox-Box system, a shock absorbing training aid for the Concept2 rowing machine, which offers rowers the option to adjust the side-to-side and up-and-down motions of the rowing machine to better develop core muscles and balance control.

Blackstone Automation’s new and improved Shox-Box system, a shock absorbing training aid for the Concept2 rowing machine, offers rowers the option to adjust the roll (side-to-side) and pitch (up-and-down) motions of the rowing machine to better develop core muscles and balance control off the water. The improved Shox-Box system now comes with Variable Balance Control, VBC, which allows rowers to increase the side-to-side motion of the rowing machine thus requiring more balance skills. Blackstone Automation also introduced a new Soft Spring Upgrade Kit for the Shox-Box system. This spring set upgrade challenges rowers with a higher degree of difficulty provided by more roll along with extra downward motion to further enhance the boat-like feel at the catch.

David Baker, Blackstone Automation President and Shox-Box inventor, comments, ”A number of Shox-Box users have requested that the roll motion be adjustable to accommodate differing skill levels. Well we listened and the Shox-Box system now comes with an adjustable balance feature such that the rowing machine becomes less stable with the springs set on the inboard position. Even the most experienced rowers will find that the new VBC Shox-Box System upgraded with the new Soft Springs provides the ultimate challenge in perfecting balance and body motions on the Erg while experiencing an even more comfortable catch.”

Existing Shox-Box System customers that also want more challenging workouts have the option to upgrade their original Front Shox-Box with the Soft Springs Upgrade Kit. The upgraded Front Shox-Box with the Soft Springs is less stable to better simulate boat motions and offers rowers even more comfort than before. By training the same muscle groups on and off the water, the transition back to the water becomes much easier after training routinely with the Shox-Box system.

The new improved Shox-Box products will be demonstrated at the Head of the Charles (Boston, MA) October 21 – 23 and the Head of the Hooch (Chattanooga, TN) November 5 – 6.
