Educator, musician, and author Tom Hall believes that spontaneous creativity is a vitally important, but often neglected, part of everyone’s life. “We all have to manage a flow of information that was inconceivable a decade ago,” he says. “Our ability to improvise, to spontaneously create solutions to the challenges life gives us, is the key to doing this effectively. Yet schools are cutting the very programs that develop these abilities. Creative communities are being isolated from the general public, at a time when the need for their skills and understanding is greatest.”
This need has led to the creation of ImprovLive 365, which is using internet crowdfunding platform IndieGoGo.com to help finance it’s launch. From October 9 through November 11 contributors can donate money in exchange for gifts ranging from t-shirts to free concerts, lessons, and workshops.
ImprovLive 365 is a daily webseries dedicated to exploring, documenting, and sharing the spontaneous creativity of life. Hosted and created by Tom Hall, ImprovLive 365 will interview creative people from all professions and walks of life, explore practical ideas for living in a more creative and spontaneous way, share music and art of all kinds, report on the latest breakthroughs in our understanding of creativity, and provide free educational programs at schools and community centers. The premiere episode will be aired on January 1, 2012.
“Spontaneous creativity is a natural, practical part of life. We all use and intuitively understand it, but we rarely talk about it, find out how other people do it, or explore how to get better at it ourselves.” says Tom. “ImprovLive 365 is a way to increase awareness and understanding of this gift we all share, and to show the fundamental connection between creativity in our artistic and musical communities and the creativity of everyone’s daily life.”
