Unique New Items to Provide Consumers with Great Tasting and Wholesome Products

Announced today are the introductions by Steuben Foods of three new products geared towards the retailer store brand industry, capturing growing consumer interest in products that are both great tasting and good for you. They are a refrigerated pudding with whipped topping, sugar free mousse, and aseptic rBST-free milk.

According to David Cantor, Director of Marketing at Steuben, “pudding with whipped topping will bring to our retailers a unique product still not offered by the leading United States national brands, despite the success of similar items overseas. And in research tests involving over 1200 consumers, pudding with whipped topping not only scored higher than almost all other refrigerated puddings, but with little cannibalization thus leading to product category growth. Our sugar free mousse represents the first private label product to duplicate the national brand equivalents through the use of state-of-the-art technology. With only 60 calories per serving, our refrigerated mousses provide all the taste without the guilt.”

Retailers and consumers will find a high level of satisfaction when purchasing aseptic rBST-free milk from Steuben. Besides obtaining the primary benefit of “organic” milk (the lack of hormones) at a lower everyday price, Mike Brown, Vice-President of Sales at Steuben sees other pluses. “RBST-Free aseptic milk offers consumers real product and packaging innovation from traditional milk products with four separate flavor offerings, all marketed in 8-ounce prisma containers requiring no refrigeration. Retailers will also see their sale of aseptic milk products rise based on the expectation that non-organic milk consumers will trade up, looking for the biggest benefit of “organic” milk (no hormones) without the price.”

Steuben Foods will begin shipping sugar free mousse and aseptic rBST-free milk in first quarter 2012, with pudding with whipped topping to follow in second quarter. Initial retailer feedback has been most positive, thus it is expected that these items will be available at numerous retailers across the United States. Pudding with whipped topping, sugar free mousse, and aseptic rBST-free milk will also be on display at the Steuben booth during the PLMA Expo in Chicago, slated to run from November 13-15, 2011.
