“The owner, everyone, feels like our project team is on top of things. They appreciate the transparency,” said Peter Mulcahey, Lend Lease Senior Project Manager.

LATISTA Technologies, the leader in quality and field management solutions for construction, recently published a case study about Lend Lease’s implementation of LATISTA comprehensive quality and commissioning software. The first project chosen to use LATISTA software was the $300 million Katz Women's Hospital. Lend Lease used LATISTA software with the view of saving time and cost and efficiently communicating with all parties involved throughout the project’s life cycle.

Lend Lease used LATISTA software to automate the QA/QC process during construction, which helped eliminate extensive correction time and cost for the project team and owners as revealed in this project's case study. Using LATISTA software to identify and correct issues during construction reduces the amount of punchlist items and impact on the commissioning phase of the project. “We determined it’s more than 10 times the cost to correct or install something after the walls were closed than before,” said Senior Project Manager Peter Mulcahey. On a 295,000 sq. ft jobsite and complex hospital project, like Katz Women’s Hospital, that will be a significant amount of time saved.

Besides Lend Lease, engineers, architects, the commissioning authority, owner representatives, and subcontractors used the LATISTA system to communicate about the project’s quality and status—more than 50 users. “The owner, everyone, feels like our project team is on top of things. They appreciate the transparency,” said Mulcahey. Latista’s automated communications and workflows also helped reduce questions and confusion with subcontractors. Representatives from Long Island Jewish Health Services, the parent facility of Katz Women’s Hospital, including architects and engineers, log into the system as well to see how construction is progressing.

“We are impressed with the dedication to quality and workmanship that Lend Lease demonstrates through it’s utilization of LATISA for quality management and commissioning,” said Chris Ramsey, Chief Operating Officer (COO). “After working with Lend Lease for over two years on many projects, it’s apparent they are the leading healthcare contractors thanks to their attention to detail.”
