“Barcode Xpress has been a very popular SDK with our customers,” said Tom Setzer, Director of Recognition, Accusoft Pegasus. “And with the increased demand for mobile platforms over the past year, it made sense for us to move our powerful barcode recognition engine over to the mobile space.”
Barcode Xpress Mobile for Android will provide patient record indexing in apps built for medical professionals, allowing instant accessibility to patient medical information. A physician may scan a patient’s chart or wristband to pull the patient records from an online database using a mobile device. Additionally, users can view medical images from a patient record with the AIMTools SDK, Accusoft’s mobile imaging toolkit.
“With its accuracy and high-speed recognition, Barcode Xpress Mobile enables customers to put barcode recognition into their mobile app workflow,” said Setzer. “For example, using Barcode Xpress Mobile along with our recently released AIMTools SDK enables the creation of powerful EMR/EHR applications.”
Retail outlets can use Barcode Xpress Mobile to develop apps for their customers. These Android apps enable customers to build a wedding registry or wish list. There are many more use cases for mobile barcode applications including virtual business cards, shipment tracking, and records indexing.
The Barcode Xpress Mobile for Android product will read QR Code, Code 39, Code 128, EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A and UPC-E. The product download includes an Android compatible barcode library and two sample programs.
