More than 100 senior citizen residents of Gladys B. Jacobs Manor, together with caretakers, family members, friends and “Original Richard Allen” members, will attend the 19th Annual Senior Citizens’ Event, hosted by the Original Richard Allen Committee, Inc. (ORAC). This year, Hon. Jannie Blackwell, five-term City of Philadelphia Councilwoman and former Richard Allen Homes resident, will be the keynote speaker, addressing health care and other issues related to the aging population. Immediately following the keynote address, Councilwoman Blackwell will field questions from the audience.

Each year, ORAC’s goal for this event is to provide relevant information to the elderly community at Gladys B. Jacobs Manor, keeping the residents abreast of current events affecting them and their families.

The Original Richard Allen Committee, Inc. was founded 21 years ago by a small group of former residents of the Richard Allen housing development, located between 9th and 12th Streets and between Fairmount Avenue and Poplar Street, in North Central Philadelphia.
