People Awards Program Celebrates Leading Practitioners Across Healthcare Settings

Dorland Health, a division of Access Intelligence, celebrated the industry's leading healthcare providers during the 2011 People Awards ceremony that took place at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The second annual People Awards ceremony was the result of a three-month contest that called for, received and judged hundreds of healthcare providers across a variety of settings within the U.S. healthcare system. The awards ceremony was the first of a two-day event culminating with the day-long Care Coordination Summit. The two days of recognition and learning, both presented by Dorland Health, represented high-quality professionals, programs and trends in the diverse arena of care coordination.

"The expertise demonstrated during the ceremony shows the vibrancy of leading healthcare professionals who are operating in difficult times," said Anne Llewellyn, Editor in Chief with Dorland Health. "As an organization, and as an entire healthcare community, we applaud their efforts and hope that others will look to their work for guidance."

Entries for the awards program were evaluated by a team of judges, and winners and honorable mentions were selected for this year's program based on leadership, creativity, and innovation for specific programs or as a member of the care coordination team in their organization. Special consideration was placed on professionals who spearhead efforts to make healthcare safe, quality-driven and cost-effective for all.

The awards program celebrated winning entrants from some of the nation's leading healthcare providers including Cigna, Alere, WellPoint, GlaxoSmithKline, and Senior Bridge, to name a few.

The event featured keynote speaker LeAnna Carey, principle of TheHealthMaven, LLC, who shared with the finalists and guests how healthcare is being reshaped by technology and social networks and how providers can leverage social media to maximize transformative healthcare innovation and thought leadership whether from a personal or a corporate perspective.
