ZESPRI’s Kiwifruit for Kids Campaign Announces Winner and Donates Over $20,000 to Childhood Obesity

Children’s Non-Profit, Crossroads, wins Kiwifruit for Kids Campaign

ZESPRI donated over $20,000 to the children’s health charities that participated in ZESPRI’s Kiwifruit for Kids campaign. The winner of the campaign, Crossroads from the Northeast, walked away with $10,000, and a whopping 26,088 points. The second place winner, C.H.O.I.C.E.S. from Atlanta, won $5000. The remaining four charities received $1500 for participating.

On Friday at midnight, ZESPRI Kiwifruit’s online initiative to raise money and awareness for the childhood obesity epidemic in The United States, came to a close. Kiwifruit for Kids brought six children’s health non-profits to the forefront, explaining their missions and why it’s important for children to eat healthy and active lifestyles. Everyone around the nation had a chance to play the Kiwifruit for Kids Facebook application to raise money for the charity of his or her choice.

Deb Landry, founder of Crossroads, the winner of the $10,000, says of the campaign, “We are so fortunate to have had this opportunity offered to us by ZESPRI. With this money, we’ll be producing a film that focuses on childhood obesity and health, using Miss Collegiate America, Shannon Folsom’s story as the focal point of the film. We’re happy that ZEZPRI created this campaign, supporting a great cause and raising awareness around the epidemic.”

With the success of the Kiwifruit for Kids campaign in the United States, ZESPRI is examining the possibility of expanding the campaign into other international markets.
