Australia’s world leading data protection company, Senetas Corporation Limited (ASX:SEN) announced today it had achieved Common Criteria EAL4+ certification for an expanded range of its range of network encryptors.

Senetas Engineering Manager, John Weston, said the company’s CN and CS series encryptor EAL4+ certification has now been extended to cover the latest firmware release, and the inclusion of the new CS100 software based encryption device. This means Senetas now offers certified encryption solutions for a range of networks from 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps (CS) and at variable rates up to 10 Gbps (CN).

“Significantly this is the first certification of the VLAN-based Ethernet encryption solution,” Mr. Weston said. He further explained that Senetas CN1000/3000 encryptors can protect up to 512 virtual LANs at 1Gbps and up to 64 virtual LANs at 10Gbps using an encryption policy based on VLAN tags rather than MAC addresses.

Senetas’ high speed network encryptors are listed on the Australian Government’s Evaluated Product List (EPL). They are certified to two of the most recognised global data security standards: Common Criteria EAL-4+ and FIPS 140-2 Level 3 and are currently ‘in evaluation’ for CESG CAPS accreditation in United Kingdom.

Mr Weston said Senetas had continued to pursue standards-based research and development to ensure its encryption technology and processes provided the necessary levels of assuredness for governments here and abroad.

Mr Weston said the Senetas certifications could be found online at Australia’s Defence Signals Directorate: http://www.dsd.gov.au/infosec/epl/index_details.php?product_id=MTM5IyMjMTIxLjIwMC4yMzIuMzQ=

and

He said Senetas had invested in ongoing certifications because the company believed: “it is necessary and does ultimately benefit both government and business customers that our secure technology and our processes are robust”. Certification was a validation that a vendor’s claimed security products are effective and are implemented correctly, he added.
