A new 10-hour training video DVD from InfiniteSkills includes realtime walkthroughs on compositing, chroma keying, text effects and more.

Training developer InfiniteSkills Inc has announced a new Apple Motion 5 Tutorial Video Course designed to teach practical compositing and effects techniques for post-production workflows. Narrated by A/V expert and Apple-certified professional Matt Schalk, the series includes 93 separate tutorials on application-specific tools as well as broad creative techniques for film, television and the Web. The course retails for $99.95 on DVD-ROM and instant download formats from the Motion tutorial page, which also features free lessons from the course.

"Affordable HD equipment has put pro quality video within the reach of more people than ever before," said Chris Johns, content coordinator for InfiniteSkills. "As users become more comfortable with editing software like iMovie and Final Cut, they're even more interested in tools like Motion to take their video to the next level."

Updated to coincide with the release of Final Cut Pro X, Apple Motion 5 includes a redesigned interface to match Apple's standard editing tools, new user-friendly template features and hardware enhancements that take advantage of 64-bit and GPU hardware. While retaining professional options that have made the program a success in the past, Apple has promoted Motion 5 as the most user-friendly edition of its effects software yet, simplifying text features and transitions into 'intelligent' templates and allowing on-the-fly modifications to green and blue screen footage.

InfiniteSkills has designed its Apple Motion 5 training video around the program's improvements, showing not just how they can be used in limited, specific examples but also how they can be combined within a larger video workflow. At the same time, the Motion tutorials also cover more established functionality that new users need to know, starting with user interface basics and going through compositing, animation, transitions and interoperability with Final Cut.

"We're excited to deliver the Motion tutorial our customers have been demanding," said Colin Boyd, sales director at InfiniteSkills. "Many of our Final Cut training customers have come back saying they wanted a quality Motion tutorial, too. Now, it's here, authored by possibly the best expert for the job."

Matt Schalk is a professional videographer and Apple systems specialist with over 6 years production experience using the Final Cut suite. He holds Apple certifications in Motion, Final Cut Pro, Hardware Support, Logic Pro, as a Technical Coordinator and in nine other areas. He specializes in helping companies and individuals adopt Apple-based solutions to technical problems, with an emphasis in multimedia resources.

The complete Apple Motion 5 Training Video series can be ordered from the InfiniteSkills website on DVD-ROM or as an instant download by customers worldwide for $99.95 USD. Both editions can be viewed on Mac and Windows computers and include accessible work files that correspond to the training examples used by Schalk onscreen. A full index of Motion 5 tutorial topics and 11 free demo lessons can be found on the product page.
