World Renowned Pop Opera Singer Rose Jang Performs at Lincoln Center November 9th 2011

Princeton-born Rose Jang is an acclaimed award-winning Korean-American pop opera artist who is well-known for singing operatic arias, musical and classic pop songs. She is the first Korean to release an album comprising operatic arias as well as hit musical songs. Jang reached #1 on both domestic and international music charts with her performance of the song “Memory” from the musical Cats, topping versions by both Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand. She also broke the record for the most weeks at #1 on the Korean classical charts with her rendition of “You Raise Me Up” from her Songs of Hope Series. Jang has performed with the legendary Grammy award-winning platinum artist Patti Labelle, and has performed for many of the world’s presidents, dignitaries, and other world leaders.

Jang has performed for numerous athletic events including the Formula One Grand Prix and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

On top of her musical success, she has been a spokesmodel for LANCÔME, and was featured in Elle, Vogue, and Marie Claire magazines.

At the young age of four, Jang began playing the piano, and training in voice and violin. She performed the violin as part of the New Jersey Youth Symphony, and later at the age of 17 made her debut at Carnegie Hall. Rose was born NJ and grew up in Princeton, Warren, Short Hills and Manhattan. She is a graduate of Smith College. Jang has also studied at Columbia University in New York City and Goldsmiths College in London. She is fluent in English, Korean, and French.

Being an official Ambassador for the Korea Tourism Office, the National Committee for “Jeju Island: The New 7 Wonders of Nature,” and Goodwill Ambassador for U.N. Organization UNESCO, Rose Jang has worked on various projects that have allowed her to promote Korean culture globally. Her ambassadorial career has led her to adapt traditional Korean folk songs for English listeners. Rose is the true “Voice of an Angel” and has finally come home to her native New York City to debut these Korean folk songs as well as opera arias and popular Broadway show tunes with the Rose Pops Orchestra at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.
