Once selected by the Regional Flight Surgeon for the Great Lakes Region, Dr Koziarski had to attend a one week training seminar at the FAA’s Civil Aerospace Medical Institute in Oklahoma City. The training centered on learning the FAA standards for pilots as well as learning the FAA computer system for entering and tracking pilot’s exams.

Pilots and controllers need to get a physical exam every 6 months to 5 years. The time interval depends on the type of license they have.
