Battle Creek, MI (PRWEB) October 28, 2011
Earlier this year, John Koziarski, MD, was designated as an aviation medical examiner by the Federal Aviation Administration. He is now one of 3,519 physicians in the United States authorized to perform physical exams for pilots and air traffic controllers. Dr Koziarski is currently the only physician in Calhoun County with this designation.
Once selected by the Regional Flight Surgeon for the Great Lakes Region, Dr Koziarski had to attend a one week training seminar at the FAA’s Civil Aerospace Medical Institute in Oklahoma City. The training centered on learning the FAA standards for pilots as well as learning the FAA computer system for entering and tracking pilot’s exams.
Pilots and controllers need to get a physical exam every 6 months to 5 years. The time interval depends on the type of license they have.
