Wellness centres and spas, rehabilitation clinics, fitness centres, sports teams and hospitals are just a few options for where an RMT education can take you.
Burnaby, BC (PRWEB) October 27, 2011
PCU College of Holistic Medicine in Burnaby has introduced the Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) diploma program to its portfolio of holistic healthcare curriculum. Students who enroll in this in-demand program can look forward to exciting career opportunities as both British Columbia and Canada’s healthcare system continue to recognize RMTs as important healthcare practitioners.
The PCU College program includes a comprehensive curriculum of both practical and theoretical courses and subjects. Students are prepared to provide massage therapy services and treatments for medical conditions, sports injuries, relaxation services and overall wellness. Intensive knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and neurology is required to ensure students can apply their skills to the real world.
Throughout the program, RMT students will work in the supervised Student Clinic, practicing their skills, interacting with clients and learning to treat patients with a range of needs in a variety of healthcare settings.
“Our graduates have the benefit of exploring many different types of workplaces to start their careers,” says Dr. John Yang, Dean of PCU College. “Wellness centres and spas, rehabilitation clinics, fitness centres, sports teams and hospitals are just a few options for where an RMT education can take you. For those with entrepreneurial aspirations, you could even start your own business with the skills and knowledge from your diploma.”
The 96-week program was designed to ensure students develop the skills and knowledge established in the College of Massage Therapist of BC (CTMBC) Occupational Competency Profile. Graduates will be prepared to write the CTMBC registration examinations as well.
