Opening mid-November, CESCO OSTERIA will offer authentic Tuscan-inspired cuisine in a variety of dining settings from lounge to white tablecloth, all housed within a completely renovated 10,000 square-foot space.

Our diners are customers only once, then family for a lifetime.

Francesco Ricchi announced today that his newest restaurant, CESCO OSTERIA, is opening its doors next month in the former McCormick & Schmick's space in Bethesda. But fans of the internationally renowned chef need not worry: although the atmosphere will be completely new, Chef Ricchi’s cuisine and friendly, expert service will be in full effect from day one of his latest venture.

“This is a wonderful way to blend the old and the new,” says Chef Ricchi. “To introduce the warmth and quality of Cesco Trattoria into a space that is open and modern, and create a brand new experience that feels familiar at the same time.”

Chef Ricchi’s loyalty to Tuscan culinary tradition and appreciation of foods in season is strong as ever, and will be readily apparent in his newest menu. He is famous for his high quality requirements, as reflected in dishes that use the best available fruits, vegetables, grains, meats and seafood.

Squash is in abundance at this time of year (think traditional squash-stuffed ravioli, with fresh house-made pasta), and we are at the heart of truffle season; as the weather cools and the days become shorter, the historic Tuscan bread and vegetable soup Ribollita will make an appearance. And of course, as Tuscany is the source of some of the world's most important reds, the wine list will feature a wide choice of varietals made with indigenous grapes of the region, as well as other red and white wines, Italian birra and ultra-premium spirits.

Chef Ricchi has collaborated with architect and developer Mitch Weber, President, Heffner & Weber Companies, on a complete conceptual and physical overhaul of the interior and exterior at 7401 Woodmont Avenue—and while most of the details still remain under wraps, here is a taste of the atmosphere to come:

CESCO OSTERIA will offer several distinct dining experiences, from private dining and communal chef’s tables for “Sunday Dinner” every day of the week to tables for two with a view of the galley kitchen and European-style outdoor dining that will light up, literally, every night.

After hours, the restaurant’s bar and lounge will morph into Co2 Lounge, an elegant and sophisticated theatrical space offering late-night dining, featuring its own DJ booth and live entertainment stage, a fashion runway, and a unique 'teatro e galleria' for artwork, film screenings and dancing. This will be the only multi-media, indoor/outdoor social, entertainment, cultural and dining venue in the region to enjoy year-round.

Co2 Lounge, a WiFi hotspot, will be “the” after-hours destination to "see and be seen," to imbibe from one of the most extensive and exclusive mixology menus in the area, and to sample Chef Ricchi's fare.

The unparalleled amenities of Co2 Lounge and peerless qualities of CESCO OSTERIA are available for exceptional private parties and events.

“I can tell you this: Bethesda has never seen anything like it before,” says Mr. Weber, a friend and colleague of Chef Ricchi. “We’re talking ten-thousand square feet of award-winning cuisine and incredible late-night excitement. Everybody in the DC region is going to be buzzing about it.”

Chef Francesco Ricchi has been welcoming diners to his table for over 20 years, earning dozens of awards including Best New Restaurant in The United States and the Zagat Award of Distinction.

CESCO OSTERIA is the culmination of a lifetime of experience in the kitchen and interacting with diners—who, in Chef Ricchi’s words, are “customers only once, then family for a lifetime.”
