Stoltenberg Consulting, Inc., a leading healthcare information technology consulting firm, today awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Fernando Martinez, CHCIO, VP/CIO, of Jackson Health System in Miami, Fla. This scholarship is the third awarded from the Stoltenberg Future Fund Scholarship, which has pledged $50,000 to the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Education Foundation over the next 25 years. Mr. Martinez was announced as the recipient at an event today during the annual CHIME11 Fall CIO Forum in San Antonio, Texas. The scholarship is applied towards secondary education earned at the CHIME conference.

“We are extremely grateful to Stoltenberg for offering this generous opportunity to CHIME members, especially in these times of shrinking and non-existent budgets for continuing education,” said CHIME President and CEO Richard A. Correll.

The CHIME Education Foundation provides scholarships for CHIME members to attend educational events. As part of the foundation, the Stoltenberg 25-Year Future Fund Scholarship awards $2,000 scholarships annually to be used for any of CHIME’s educational events, including its Healthcare CIO Boot Camp, Fall CIO Forum, CHIME/HIMSS CIO Forum and LEAD Forums. Scholarship applicants must be CHIME members in good standing, express a need for financial support for continuing education and describe their professional goals in the healthcare IT industry.

“We are dedicated to supporting the needs of today’s hospital CIOs, including continued education and venues that stimulate and encourage innovative thinking and idea sharing,” said Sheri Stoltenberg, CEO of Stoltenberg Consulting. “We greatly value our partnership with CHIME and are proud to be able to provide an opportunity for CIOs to gain additional education and insight that can hopefully expand their knowledge of and experience with current health IT solutions.”
