Keeping up with federal tax laws is now the number one concern of solo practitioners and smaller firms

Keeping up with federal tax laws is now the number one concern of solo practitioners and smaller firms, knocking client retention off the top spot, according to a recent AIPCA survey.
This is not a surprising development, said Sue Anderson, CPE Link executive director: “With tax laws constantly shifting, it’s tough to get a firm grasp on them. It’s no wonder that keeping up with tax changes has risen to the top of the charts.”
One example of a murky tax area that practitioners must navigate involves unmarried couples who cohabitate. A letter from 74 members of the House Representatives to IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman urged that the IRS move fast to settle “serious issues” faced by domestic partners and same-sex couples, many of whom still aren’t sure how to pay their 2010 taxes!
CPE Link is ready to educate practitioners on this year’s complex array of tax changes. “Our update programs are always popular, and this year, our attendees are asking for more of them,” said Anderson. CPE Link has responded to the need for training by scheduling 25 live webcasts covering individual and corporate tax.
Tax update sessions run from Nov. 14 through Jan. 13 and include four expert speakers to help practitioners get up to speed: Vern Hoven (CPA, EA), Dennis Gerschick (Attorney, CPA, Chartered Financial Analyst), Albert Grasso (tax attorney), and Eva Rosenberg (MBA, EA). For those who prefer to study at their own pace, self-study courses will be available by late November.
Practitioners can rely on CPE Link to support them in keeping abreast of fast-changing tax laws. CPE Link offers a Value Pass for individuals and a Firm Advantage Pass for firms that makes keeping up to date affordable for everyone.
