New services will assist health care providers in accelerating their ICD-10 coding transition

National health information consulting and staffing firm Care Communications, Inc. (CARE) announced the start of new ICD-10 Documentation and Financial Risk Assessment Services. The services are designed to assess clinical documentation problems and financial risks at hospitals and physician practices as they transition to the new coding classification system. The government has mandated that facilities must complete the transition by October 1, 2013.

CARE’s ICD-10 Documentation and Financial Risk Assessment Services provide a facility-specific analysis of clinical documentation deficiencies and how they will negatively impact revenue following ICD-10 implementation. The new ICD-10 services include:

  • Utilizing the CARE I-10 Code Predictor technology, identification of all cases where 1:1 code mapping does not exist.
  • Case by case review to validate documentation needs and determine the optimal clinical documentation improvement strategy.
  • Determination of direct financial risk to the facility.
  • Prioritization and recommendations for training needs for clinicians and coders to avoid compliance risks and financial losses.

“Nearly half of healthcare executives across the country are anticipating revenue loss from the ICD-10 implementation,” said Hal Walsh, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Care Communications. “Through a careful analysis of potential coding and documentation problems, associated financial risks can be mitigated. That’s why it’s important for hospitals and physicians to plan and prepare for ICD-10 now.”
