MHF Services (MHF), a leading provider of packaging, transportation and logistics, announced today that it has renewed its contract with a major mining company for the truck-to-rail transloading and transport of copper concentrate and transloading of propane.

The new, six-year contract is valued at approximately $16 million and took effect in August 2011.

MHF will continue to operate a transload facility established in 2006 specifically for this project at a site in Nevada. MHF also will maintain a dedicated fleet of its private, fiberglass-lidded mill gondola railcars to transport the copper concentrate to a smelter in Canada. MHF on-site personnel manage the transload facility and in-house personnel manage customs and regulatory requirements for the copper concentrate, which ships as a Class 9 hazardous material.

Since the project’s inception, MHF has shipped more than 2,271,000 tons of copper concentrate.

In addition, since 2009, MHF has assisted the mining company with a propane supply program to support its liquefied petroleum gas requirements at three of its other mine locations. During the winter months, MHF transfers propane from rail tank cars to tank trucks for distribution. To date, MHF has transferred approximately 1.1 million gallons of propane.

Scott Dempsey, MHF Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing, said, “We are pleased to continue to assist this worldwide company for a new term of the project. We recognize the importance of this project to the company’s operations and our role in supporting the efficient, secure, and reliable movement of its materials.”
