The donation ensures that more HCSO deputies, including homicide and narcotics investigators, will have the appropriate equipment to save lives in case of traumatic events,” said a representative from the HCSO.

HCSO deputies were trained on the application of the bandages in real situations. Several members of the PerSys Medical team visited the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to learn more about their operation needs, as well as educate the deputies on the bandage and its many uses.
A former IDF medic developed the “Israeli Bandage™” in the 1990’s. The bandage is based on a traditional military wound dressing, and has added features that help prevent blood loss. Each bandage comes equipped with a pressure applicator, a closure bar, cloth leader, sterile pad, and Stop ‘n Go Release. The bandages are sterilized, double bagged, and vacuum-sealed before reaching the user. The Stop ‘n Go Release feature prevents unraveling of the elastic bandage if accidentally dropped during application. By releasing only short lengths of the wrapping leader at a time with the natural wrapping movement of the hand, the bandaging and application of pressure is more controlled and focused.
At the January 8, 2011 shooting in Arizona, where Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was injured, the same Emergency Bandages™ were instrumental in savings the lives of some of the 14 people wounded. These bandages were part of the first responder kits at the scene.
Currently, HCSO patrol deputies include The Emergency Bandage™ in their first-aid kits. “The donation ensures that more HCSO deputies, including homicide and narcotics investigators, will have the appropriate equipment to save lives in case of traumatic events,” said a representative from the HCSO.
The Israeli Bandage™ is an important tool that is utilized by law enforcement agencies throughout the United States, as well as the US Military and other international militaries.
