SMS Offers Wellness Testing at LAGCOE

We were the only company at LAGCOE to offer an actual service to participants, measuring blood pressure, pulse, body mass index and weight.

Every year, several divisions of Acadian Companies are represented at the Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition (LAGCOE), the second-largest energy exposition in the United States.

The highlight for Acadian Companies this year was the showcasing of Safety Management Systems’ Occupational Health & Wellness Services.

SMS is one of the largest providers of health, safety, environmental, medical and training services in the United States and its clear commitment to safety and occupational services set it apart from the competition.

“We were the only company at LAGCOE to offer an actual service to participants, measuring blood pressure, pulse, body mass index and weight,” SMS Grant Administrator Melissa Juneau said. About 25 participants opted for the testing and most were surprised by the results, especially regarding blood pressure, Juneau said.

SMS Business Development Manager Mark Trahan and Instructor Travis Broussard also represented SMS at the event, which was attended by almost 13,500 people.

“The most common inquiries we received were regarding cholesterol and 12-lead EKG testing,” Broussard said. SMS offers both in the extensive list of occupational testing services available via its Health & Wellness division.

Other Acadian divisions at LAGCOE included Acadian Monitoring Services, Air Med Services, LLC, and Executive Aircraft Charter Service.

The Acadian Monitoring Services exhibit showcased Fleet Management/Asset Tracking and Security/Video Monitoring. The division’s safety and monitoring products and services, using the latest advances in technology, are remotely accessible and cost efficient.

Air Med Services, LLC’s medically configured helicopters have flown more first-response missions in their 30 years of operation than any other air medical program in the country. Air Med’s display at LAGCOE highlighted its emergency call center, ONE GULF. FAA-approved and staffed 24/7 by paramedic flight controllers who coordinate logistics for the Gulf of Mexico, ONE GULF provides an invaluable service in critical care transport to the oil and gas industry.

Executive Aircraft Charter Service, located next to the Lafayette Regional Airport, is available around the clock for private charter flights. The convenience of a personal flight without the cost of ownership is also an asset to the oil and gas industry, allowing customers to reduce their travel time, hold meetings en route to their destination, and avoid the confusion that often comes with flying commercially.
