Obsidian Analysis, Inc. (http://www.obsidiandc.com) announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has selected the company to plan and execute the 2012 National Level Exercise (NLE 2012).
National Level Exercises (NLEs) are multi-jurisdictional exercises involving Federal, regional, state, tribal, local and private sector participants from across the country. FEMA conducts NLEs on an annual basis to improve the preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities for major disasters and terrorist attacks. NLE 2012 will address the ability of government, the private sector, and other community partners to coordinate and respond to a cyber attack.
“Obsidian is excited to design and implement NLE 2012 for FEMA’s National Exercise Division,” stated Dr. Kevin O’Prey, Obsidian’s Chairman. “NLE 2012 is the first exercise of this size addressing cyber security—it will test government and private sector cyber security plans on an unprecedented scale and ultimately enhance preparedness for cyber threats.”
Obsidian’s NLE team includes several leading companies and consultants, including L-3 Communications, Inc. and the CNA Corporation. L-3 is a national leader in exercise implementation and cyber security and CNA provides the Nation’s leading evaluation capability for Federal, State, and local exercises.
