This year’s American Film Market will be an opportunity for the creative team behind “Actor?: The Documentary” to introduce their documentary about the life, meaning and challenges of the performer’s life to the independent film community. Interviewees include Ed Asner(“Lou Grant”), 5 time Emmy award winner Doris Roberts(“Everybody Loves Raymond”) as well as Alan Thicke, Robert Loggia and Dee Wallace. All of these thespians have crafted long careers by mixing TV, film and stage roles.
The 2011 American Film Market will be an opportunity for producer/director David Rich of “Actor?: The Documentary” to introduce his exploration of the performing life to the independent film community. Producer and entertainment attorney Lee Rudnicki is also attending the conference in Santa Monica from November 2 – 9, 2011 so that the two principals can meet with distributors and fellow filmmakers about this unusual and arresting documentary.
“Actor?: The Documentary” looks at actors from every type of career within the industry. The film travels from well-known locations like Los Angeles and New York, to the outlying options in places like Detroit, Las Vegas and Phoenix. Other interviews include Central Casting, the largest employer of background players in Los Angeles, who share their decades-long experience providing extras. It will also provide insight from casting directors, Helen McCready, Fern Champion, Paul Weber and Scott Wissner as well as agent Annie Schwartz as to the what actors need to further their careers. Each year, the AFM brings together the independent film community for the world’s largest motion picture trade show.
The performers’ insights will be presented using a lively mix of animation with live interviews incorporated from LCD TV screens, projection systems and even smart phones. Digital Image Studios has collaborated with DB Rich Productions LLC to design this unique animated film “Actor?: The Documentary,” which explores the craft, meaning and many career paths of the actor’s life. As the old saying goes, there are no small roles, there are only small actors. This unique review of every kind of performer will be released in October 2012 to give a telling look at this very public life.
