“I am really surprised that coupon usage has exceeded 2008 levels by such a wide margin"
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 28, 2011
A recent poll by http://www.couponqueen.com found that 94% of US consumers are using more grocery coupons as a result of the recent economic downturn with 92% reporting that they are using more coupons than at any other time in their life.
This compares to a similar survey conducted in 2008 that found 78% of consumers were using more coupons as a result of the recession and 61% were using more coupons than at any other time in their life.
“I am really surprised that coupon usage has exceeded 2008 levels by such a wide margin”, says Susan Samtur, a leading expert and Author of “Supershop like the Coupon Queen, How to save 50% or more on your grocery bill”, “Coupons have always been popular, but these results suggest that grocery coupons are being used by a much larger audience".
38% of respondents cited increased energy costs as the primary reason for higher coupon usage and 17% of respondents indicated that Job loss was responsible for the increase.
"Some of the increased interest in coupons might be a result of the TLC Extreme Couponing show or the introduction of social buying sites like Groupon, but I believe a combination of economic hardships and a new more accepting attitude towards coupons are really the driving force in these results.” says Susan.
The study was made up of men and women 18 and older living in the United States. To see the full survey results or for more information please visit: Grocery Coupon Survey
