Limagrain Cereal Seeds, a U.S. subsidiary of the biggest plant breeder and seed company in Europe, announced that Jeremiah Menefee has been hired as Research Associate. In July, Menefee was assigned to Limagrain’s regional research station in Indiana, where he will focus on assisting with wheat breeding trials from seed planting to harvest and ongoing data evaluation.
“Jeremiah’s extensive research background in the Midwest region makes him a valuable addition to the team,” said Dr. Don Obert, the Wheat Breeder responsible for Limagrain’s Indiana program “His interdisciplinary agriculture background will serve him – and, ultimately, our partners and customers – well at Limagrain.”
Menefee graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Plant studies and a minor in Plant Biology. He worked as a Research Assistant in the integrated weed management lab at Purdue, and later, as a research assistant for Pannar Seed’s corn breeding program.
“I grew up in small-town Indiana, and my grandfather is a farmer. I have been around agriculture my whole life,” said Menefee. “I enjoy working for Limagrain; Battle Ground is very family-oriented, and I have seen how well Limagrain takes care of its employees.”
Menefee lives near the Purdue University campus with his wife and dog, and likes spending time with his nieces and nephew. He enjoys camping, golfing, and being outside.
Group Limagrain was founded in France in 1942. The farmer-owned company has 7,000 employees and is the largest seed company in the European Union. Fort Collins, Colorado, serves as the North American headquarters of Limagrain Cereal Seeds, the newest subsidiary of the Limagrain Group.
