Leading endpoint data backup software vendors, CIBECS, have released their new Data Risk Assessment App - allowing organizations real insight into their endpoint data environment.

“The Data Risk Assessment App is an easy solution to planning around multiple data protection challenges facing IT today.” says Cibecs Marketing Manager, Brandon Faber. “The tool gives businesses insight into what data resides on endpoint devices. in 15 minutes it runs an audit showing how much data resides on laptops & desktops, what types of files users are storing, the average amount of data by file type and the average amount of data each user has on their machine.”

Companies worried about the security of their files need not worry, the App is completely secure and runs in their environment - it doesn’t report on individual users or their data details.

“We are vigilant when it comes to protecting business data.” Says Faber, “One of our first considerations was ensuring that the App poses no risk to the security of organizations’ information- as an endpoint data protection company this is something we are very familiar with.”

Once the App has done a quick data audit on a sample group of PCs, businesses can pull their data report which details the following:

  •     The Organization’s Data Risk Rating: An assessment of the company’s current endpoint data loss risk, its implications and recommendations for an improved Data Protection Rating.
  •     Infrastructure Optimization Assessment: How effectively is the company in minimizing its storage and bandwidth costs – with key considerations and best practices highlighted.
  •     Operational Efficiency Analysis: An overview of current end user support and data migration requirements, with recommendations on how to decrease costs and IT time required.

The value of this information for businesses is obvious. It simplifies planning around multiple IT projects and gives an easy overview of the current data protection status.

Enterprises can also use this report to gauge their level of data loss risk and to ascertain an average amount of required storage space for their business data – understanding their ratio of business to non-business data (such as images or movies). IT managers and CIO’s can then better facilitate storage of critical data with more quantitative capacity planning.

The report maximises the value around security investments by identifying and locating information assets and allowing IT greater insight into user data.

Faber added that CIBECS understands how valuable time is to IT, and how important it is that the Data Risk Assessment App is fast and simple to deploy.

“We know that the last thing enterprise IT needs is more admin, user interruptions or lengthy download processes. So we’ve made it extremely easy to run, lightweight and completely transparent. It literally takes 15 to 20 minutes from start to finish - and companies can pull a full Data Risk report.”

They urge companies to run their Data Risk Assessment App- the results will surprise many.
