Graduates of Campus-Based and Online Healthcare Programs Receive Their Degrees and Diplomas in UMA’s Largest Graduation Ceremony to Date

Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA) recently hosted the largest graduation ceremony in its history, awarding healthcare degrees and diplomas to approximately 500 students. The event was held Saturday, September 17, 2011, at the Florida State Fairgrounds and was attended by more than 1,000 family members and friends.

UMA offers a variety of campus-based and online healthcare programs, with two locations in Florida and an online campus accessible to students anywhere. Among the graduates who walked in the September ceremony were hundreds who attended ground-based courses on UMA’s Tampa and Clearwater campuses, as well as many who attained their healthcare education online.

Steve Kemler, CEO of Ultimate Medical Academy, welcomed students, families, friends and staff to the graduation ceremony. Many of the attendees had traveled great distances for the event, including one student’s family who flew from Kenya. Addressing the graduates, Mr. Kemler said, “Look around you. There are people from many different backgrounds, from different states, from different countries and from different cultures. But you all share a common bond – a commitment to get ahead, to make a difference, to help others.”

Graduates of UMA’s degree programs earned an Associate of Science (AS) in one of several allied health fields. Those who completed diploma programs – ranging from Basic X-Ray Technician with Medical Office Procedures to Medical Billing and Coding training – received a UMA certificate in their respective healthcare discipline. In addition to awarding academic credentials, UMA prepares students to sit for healthcare certification exams from a number of professional organizations and state licensing agencies.

Ann Marie Dinocento, a graduate of UMA’s online Medical Administrative Assistant diploma program, had enthusiastic praise for her healthcare education, echoing the sentiments of other alumni who have shared Ultimate Medical Academy reviews. “My experience at Ultimate Medical Academy has been wonderful. Whenever I needed help, someone was there for me. My Learner Services advisor has been my support, my rock,” Dinocento said. Reflecting on her accomplishment, she remarked, “To be graduating – it’s amazing. It’s a wonderful feeling that I achieved my goal. I am a UMA success story!”

UMA currently features nearly a dozen diploma programs, four of which may be completed online. In addition, most of UMA’s associate programs are offered online. Among the AS curricula available through UMA’s online campus are the Health Information Technology degree, Healthcare Management degree, and Medical Billing and Coding degree, as well as several concentrations in the Health Sciences degree.

The availability of online healthcare degrees – along with a variety of special benefits for active-duty servicemembers, guard, reserves, veterans and eligible spouses and dependents – recently earned UMA a spot in the Military Friendly Schools® listing published by G.I. Jobs. The respected military publication recognizes the top 20% of universities, colleges and trade schools nationwide that support military education and have military-friendly policies. In fact, UMA’s recent graduates include a number of students currently serving in or retired from the U.S. Armed Forces.
