Georgia has topped the list in the second quarter of 2011 as having the highest rate of homeowners to shop home insurance quotes in the country. According to a new report released by HomeInsurance.com entitled QuoteReport, Idaho and Oklahoma rank second and third, respectively, after Georgia as having the highest percentage of insurance shoppers amongst all state homeowners.
“There are a lot of factors that cause homeowners in certain parts of the country to shop more frequently for homeowners insurance quotes,” said Carlos Lagomarsino, CEO of HomeInsurance.com. “One reason being, when insurance rates are on the rise in a certain area, more homeowners shop to see if they can find a better rate.”
According to the Insurance Information Institute, Georgia home insurance premiums ranked as the 4th most expensive in the country in 2008. In addition, according to the HomeInsurance.com RateReport, Georgia premiums increased steadily between March 2011 and June 2011.
“We do a lot of quote comparisons for Georgia homeowners and are able to lock in some really competitive rate quotes amongst our top partner companies,” said Jana Bell Co-CEO of HomeInsurance.com. “We see a lot of consumers shopping their policies to find lower rates but we also help many new homebuyers in the Georgia area as well.”
According to a national heat map published by Trulia, search popularity for Georgia homes is fairly high when compared to the rest of the country ranking number 11 out of 50 for the week ending with October 19th. Out of the top 12 most frequently searched states for real estate, Georgia ranked second in lowest average home price- just another reason why Georgia homeowners may be more inclined to shop right now.
