Public Health Foundation Enterprises, (PHFE) CEO, Mark J Bertler presented at a regional conference on public health accreditation in Austin Texas on October 11, 2011.
Mr. Bertler participated in a panel with Lee Lane, the Director of the Texas Association for Local Health Officials, (TALHO) and Bruce Pomer, the director of the Health Officers Association of California, (HOAC).
The panel focused on strategies that states in the Western US might pursue to support and promote the recently released public health accreditation program managed by the Public Health Accreditation Board, (PHAB).
One strategy that the panelists explored was developing a collaborative approach among several states in the Western US to establish and maintain a resource center to coordinate technical assistance and other supportive services to increase the likelihood of state and local health departments in the Western US successfully participating in public health accreditation.
Over 100 participants from local and state health departments as well as representatives from national organizations, federal agencies and foundations are attended the two-day event held October 11 and 12th 2011 at the JJ Pickle research campus in Austin, Texas.
