One year ago, HomeSav.com launched with the idea of Inspired Living. The founders, an ambitious group of young professionals and new homeowners, found it difficult to shop for home furnishings. “We found that decorating a home through traditional means was time-consuming, expensive and impractical for today’s hectic lifestyle. We created HomeSav.com to be a comprehensive online destination for furnishing your home and finding beautiful, inspired pieces and gifts, conveniently and affordably,” says Aliza Pulver, Chief Buying Officer and founder.
Since then, HomeSav has partnered with hundreds of brands, manufacturers and retailers to offer discounts on luxury home décor and designer furniture exclusively to HomeSav.com members. Customers responded favourably; HomeSav has experienced tremendous growth in their first year, increasing their membership by over 1400% to over 120,000 subscribers in twelve months.
One of Canada’s up-and-coming tech startups, HomeSav secured $1.2 million in seed financing from investors at the end of September. Investors include some of Canada’s most notable retail angel investors and entrepreneurs including the Koffler family, founders of Shopper's Drug Mart, and the Metrick family, founders and owners of ELTE, Canada's largest high end home furniture retailer.
HomeSav has used this funding to grow its team and enhance member experience, expanding their suite of home solutions to provide a comprehensive resource that empowers their members to create beautiful, inspired homes. The newly introduced Inspired Picks program partners with well-known designers and tastemakers including Karl Lohnes, Lisa Ferguson, Vicky Sanderson and more to curate week-long sales events and provide their industry expertise to HomeSav members.
Most recently, HomeSav launched their HomeSav Local program in Toronto. HomeSav Local expands upon the online flash sales model to include offers and daily deals from home-related and retailers and service providers throughout Toronto. HomeSav is the only Canadian company providing home-focused local deals to its members, and response from local businesses eager to take advantage of HomeSav Local’s powerful and targeted marketing platform has been enthusiastic.
To commemorate their one year anniversary, HomeSav is donating one dollar to charitable organization Look Good Feel Better for each new HomeSav member who signs up at http://www.HomeSav.com/lgfb. LGFB empowers women who are affected by cancer to feel proud of their appearances by holding free two-hour seminars that teach women how to look and feel more like themselves again. “Look Good Feel Better is an organization that has had a profound impact on the lives of thousands of women. The stories from the women whom this program benefits are touching and inspiring. To thank our community for an amazing first year, we’ve decided to give back by partnering with a charity that embodies HomeSav’s goals and ideals, and we’re proud to support LGFB however we can,” says Alex Norman, Co-CEO and founder.
In addition, HomeSav will be sponsoring Look Good Feel Better’s charity fundraiser, The Big Give, taking place on November 1 at The Great Hall on Queen Street West in Toronto. More information can be found at http://dothebiggive.com/. One hundred percent of the evening’s proceeds will go directly to Look Good Feel Better. The Big Give will feature a variety of musicians, entertainment and giveaways.
