London (PRWEB UK) 2 November 2011
David Lloyd Leisure’s Dudley club has won recognition for its healthy menu and food preparation. The club in Pensnett Road, Brierley Hill, scooped a silver Dudley Food for Health Award for its DL Cafébar restaurant, offering the core DL menu which is healthy and nutritionally-balanced using high-quality ingredients.
The awards scheme is run jointly by Dudley Council’s environmental health officers and nutrition advisors from NHS Dudley.
To gain the standard, businesses have to secure at least a three-star food safety and hygiene rating, maintain a satisfactory standard of record keeping in this area, and have taken action to protect the environment, such as the recycling of cans and bottles.
Wayne Isaac, general manager at David Lloyd Dudley, comments: “I’m very proud of my staff who are dedicated to making sure that our members are served quality, healthy and nutritious meals every day. This award is deserved recognition for all of their efforts.”
Earlier this year, David Lloyd Leisure - Europe’s largest premium racquets, health and fitness group - was awarded the Menu Innovation Network’s prestigious annual Menu Innovation and Development Award (MIDAS).
Andy Lowe, the group’s food and beverage manager, says: “We’re delighted to learn that our Dudley club has received this important accolade. David Lloyd Leisure has worked hard on developing our menus based on feedback from our members. We use the highest quality ingredients and offer many healthy options, and are continually looking at ways of improving our offering further.”
