Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 15, 2011
Dr. John R. Miklos & Dr. Robert D. Moore of Atlanta Center for Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery recently published in the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, the second paper in the worldwide literature on labia majora reduction surgery. It is the first paper in the world describing the technique of performing both labia minora and labia majora reduction surgery simultaneously (i.e. on the same surgical day). The lack of scientific research and papers on labia majora reduction surgery reinforces the fact that very few surgeons in the world actually perform the surgery.
Dr.’s Miklos & Moore have performed over 1000 labiaplasties in their careers, the majority being labia minora reductions. Recently they have seen an increase in requests for labia majora reduction surgery. The patients’ most common complaint is the labia majora “sag” and the vulva seems to fall away from the patients’ bodies. The patients often complain that the sagging area creates a bulge in swimsuits and tight clothing and this makes the patients feel self-conscious and uncomfortable.
Dr. Miklos and Dr. Moore not only trained as gynecologists but both surgeons have trained an extra 4 years doing two fellowships in Urogynecology & Reconstructive Vaginal Surgery (2 years) as well as Minimally Invasive Reconstructive Vaginal Surgery (2 years). They have spent an extra 4 years dedicated to vaginal reconstructive surgery. The case study on performing a concurrent labia minora and labia majora reduction is a groundbreaking advancement in the world of female cosmetic genital surgery.
