Bay Area Diamond Partners with The Giving Tree to Help Local Families

Local jewelry store Bay Area Diamond Company is teaming up with Howard-based charity, The Giving Tree, to help make this holiday season a little brighter for local families in need.

For the month of November, owners Jill and Brian Rouse are offering a 15% discount on purchases to anyone who brings in four or more non-perishable food items. The items will be collected and donated to The Giving Tree’s food pantry. At the end of the food drive, Bay Area Diamond Company (http://www.bayareadiamond.com) will match the number of items raised to double what is donated.

“We’ve been so fortunate to prosper in spite of these difficult economic times,” said Jill Rouse. “We wanted to do something to give back to our community, especially as we enter the holiday season.” This is not the first time the Rouses have been leaders in the area of philanthropy. They are well known for donating items for charity auctions and for sponsoring community causes like Syble Hopp School, the Cerebral Palsy Center, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“As a local business, we feel it is our moral imperative to support the community which supports us,” said Brian Rouse, who is also the jeweler at Bay Area Diamond. “Plus, we love the idea of the resources generated here staying here.”

“We hope to see boxes and cans of food piled to the ceiling,” Rouse added. He hopes the 15% discount—not applicable to the sale of loose diamonds or the Mark Schneider line—will be incentive for people to give.

Bay Area Diamond Company is a local, family-owned jewelry store specializing in engagement rings, loose diamonds, and one-of-a-kind pieces. Founded on principles of customer satisfaction, honesty, and integrity, the store is fast becoming the premier venue for bridal jewelry.
