WESTPORT, Conn. (PRWEB) November 03, 2011
Sharing a core belief that creativity and self-expression have the power to change lives, The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps and Michaels, North America’s largest arts & crafts specialty retailer, will offer an exclusive holiday ornament to benefit the organization’s global network of camps and provide funding for more children with serious illnesses to attend camps. Crafting and games play a prominent role in the activities at all Hole in the Wall Camps.
Beginning November 4, specially designed Santa, snowman and penguin ornaments will be featured at all U.S. Michaels stores. The ornaments retail for $5.95 with $1 from each sale benefiting the camps and programs. The camps provide life-changing experiences to children with serious illnesses and their families, always free of charge. Currently, the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps consists of 28 initiatives, including 14 Hole in the Wall Camps, 10 Global Partnership Initiatives, and four camps in development. In 2010, these programs served more than 47,800 people. Since 1988, the camps have provided services to more than 337,500 people, including more than 152,000 children from 50 countries.
“Michaels has shown a commitment to helping children with serious illnesses and their families through their continued support of our organization,” said John C. Read, President and CEO of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps. “We are excited to share in the joy of the holiday season with Michaels through the creation of our holiday ornaments, which will help send many more children with serious illnesses to camp.”
